Fire burns for Freedom

By Tenzin Lekshay
After reading Li Xiaojun‘s tuneless piece in today’s Hindustan Times, it deems important to give a response to cast off the ignorance of man in-charge of propaganda desk in the Embassy of China, New Delhi. It is pity that the Chinese propaganda works 24X7, creating lies after lies to spread the goodnesses of the Chinese Communist Regime. In truth, People’s Republic of China, (PRC) the world’s rising power is surviving on the edge of lies and bullets. Mr. Li is one amongst those CCP trained leaders, who had memorized the teachings of their invincible Master, Mao Tsetung, who stressed on ‘telling thousand times a lie, and it will become truth’. Li’s article carries no weight as it lacks the factual substances, where he attacks His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Dr. Lobsang Sangay, the current political leader of Tibetans in diaspora for instigating the self-immolation inside Tibet. However, he purportedly neglects the prime cause of the self immolations inside Tibet, which lies upon the China’s repressive policies inside Tibet.

First of all, Mr. Propaganda needs to understand the crux of the Tibet issues, by not simply accusing His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Dr. Lobsang Sangay on playing ‘Tibet Issue’. Of course, whole world knows His Holiness the Dalai Lama much better than Mr. Li or any other Chinese Communist leaders,  who always wait like a hyaena to demonize His Holiness. Our Prime Minister, Dr. Lobsang Sangay, highly educated harvard law scholar, was popularly elected by the diasporic Tibetans and he represents the political will of the Tibetans, not just exile, but also stands as the spokesperson of the Tibetans in Tibet, who are suffering ‘Hell’ under the bloody rule of PRC. So, Tibet is not just about His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Dr. Lobsang Sangay, but of all the Tibetans, both in and outside Tibet, who are longing for freedom.
Mr. Li must have found some pride in writing about the living standards of Tibetans in all three traditional provinces of Tibet, comparing to pre Chinese occupation era. However, he forgot to write about the annihilation and assimilation of Tibetan aged old culture by the Chinese Communist regime. He also skip and had forgotten to narrate the destructions of six thousand Tibetan monasteries and the death of 1.2 million Tibetans under the tyranny of Chinese Communist rule. Well, if Tibet is economically improved, then why Tibetans are treated like a minority in their own homeland, without any opportunities, but avail more avenues for the Chinese immigrants. There are so many questions to raise about the superficial greatness of economic development in Tibet and its implications on Tibet, and the China’s objectivity of the development. For Chinese leaders, letter ‘T’ is understandably a troublesome word, whereby they censored all that concerns with Tibet in medias. On the contrary, they promote ‘T’ for tourism inside Tibet so to generate income for PRC. Interestingly, the one person that PRC leaders criticized the most is His Holiness the Dalai Lama, but one palace that they used the most in their commercial and political advertisement is the Potala Palace, the resident of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Mr. Li has no business to tell about how Tibetans are living in India, and we, the Tibetan refugees in India are always grateful to the Indian Government and public for giving us the space, so that we shall return to our fatherland with dignity and freedom.
Regarding self immolation, Mr. Li simply assumed that His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Dr. Lobsang Sangay found some new design to garner international support. For the record, Mr. Li, you are such a pathetic person, who has no other work but to create some fictional story about this new design, which never exist. Tibetan people are dying in flame with the unified voice of Freedom and the return of their spiritual leader, His Holiness the Dalai Lama. But, Mr. Li Xiaojun and the Chinese leaders in Mainland China are playing a virtual game by calling them terrorists, criminals, mentally ill and so forth. Venerable Kirti Rinpoche, the abbot of Kirti Monastery served as the minister for Religion and Culture of the Central Tibetan Administration, based in Dharamshala and Mr. Li had distorted the fact by claiming that he served as the Security Minister. How low you can go?
Since 2009, 31 Tibetans immolated themselves and majority of them were young and had never got a chance to see their spiritual guru, His Holiness the Dalai Lama. In spite of that, they called for the return of His Holiness to Tibet. Over five decades, Tibet was forcefully tighten, with zero human rights. Tibetan buddhist monks are forcibly indoctrinated with the Communist ideology under the ‘Patriotic Re-education Campaign’ without any religious freedom. Under such circumstances, Tibetans feel that they are virtually living in hell under the Chinese Communist rule. In terms of economical development, PRC proudly claims that Tibetans are modernized and owns mobile phones, vehicles and so on. In this age of technology, usage of mobile phones are common in every part of the world. Under such restrictive policies in Tibet, with the adoption of severe censorship, Tibetans are risking their life to send the clips of what is currently happening in Tibet. And as the voice of those voiceless Tibetans, Tibetans in exile are using these clips to raise the Tibet issues in the international platform. If PRC has complaints about such publicity of their inhuman practices in Tibet, then why aren’t PRC allowing International medias to report in Tibet, and why aren’t International communities allowed to observe the facts about Tibet. Truth will remain forever truth, no matter how hard PRC wants to manipulate it with their incessant lies. Truth will ultimately prevail over PRC’s lies.
On many occasions, Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) requested Tibetans to refrain from such extreme act of sacrifice for the Tibetan movement. The latest appeal came on 27 March, where CTA urges Tibetans to focus on secular and monastic education rather than taking drastic actions. CTA also listed at least seven reasons of why PRC is responsible for the self immolations. As per the questions posted by Mr. Li, Can he succeed?, Yes, we can. We will rise against the tyranny of PRC and till the freedom is restored, the fire within Tibetan will burn. Mr. Li Xiaojun should know that Tibet belongs to Tibetans and the Tibetans inside Tibet are the master of our homeland, neither the PRC nor the Chinese immigrants in Tibet.
With the visit of PRC’s President Hu Jintao to the Indian capital, Delhi, we urge Hu Jintao to meet His Holiness the Dalai Lama. It is only an hour journey to Dharamshala by flight to save your face from the history. Otherwise, in the eyes of Tibetans, you will forever remain as the ‘Butcher of Tibet’.
